MTGSA Governing Principles

The MTGSA took a serious look at how the organization would be better served in how it administers its Code of Conduct toward all participants involved with the league. To this end the Code of Conduct was improved upon to better serve the issues that could or may present themselves in today's youth sports environment. In addition to the evaluation of the code's standards, a more clear and concise definition of disciplinary action was established as well and the process to which action will be administered.

Code of Conduct

The following text is taken directly from the amendments of the Code of Conduct to better answer questions one may have with regard to expectations of all to whom the code serves as well as the avenues to which anyone subjected by the code may report incidents, have an understanding of the complaint process or appeal rulings made by the Code of Conduct committee.

1. CODE OF CONDUCT COMMITTEE or COCC– Comprised of the MTGSA Board.

2. Every member, participant, official, visitor or staff member shall be required to follow the code of conduct as set forth in this chapter.

3. The Code of Conduct Committee shall be charged with enforcing the provision of this chapter, establishing a MTGSA code of conduct and adding where it sees fit to the current code.

4. The code of conduct as listed at the bottom of this page will be made available to all league participants and parents and guardians of each child registered with MTGSA. The COC will be posted at the MTGSA Complex.

5. Any parent or spectator at any MTGSA Softball event shall be subject to the authority of all field officials, including umpires, elected league officials, Division Directors or coaches of the MTGSA sports activity. This authority shall be applied to include any youth teams practice, ceremonial or instructional event, and such authority shall include the authorization to direct any person or persons involved in any incident in violation of this applicable code of conduct to immediately remove themselves from the premises.

6. The Code of Conduct Committee will produce all facts, paperwork, materials and rulings of any case brought before it to the MTGSA Board as an informational courtesy prior to advising the violator(s). The MTGSA Board may ask to weigh in on the ruling by extending an opinion or advice to the Committee and after such time may request the COCC take a second vote on the existing ruling. All COCC rulings after such a vote will remain final.

7. Any parent, official, coach or spectator at a MTGSA event who believes that there has been a violation of the code shall forward their name, address, phone number, violation of ordinance, date, location of violation, witnesses and nature of the violation to the Code of Conduct Committee. The Committee will then investigate the incident and, upon determination by majority vote of the Committee, such official shall forward to such violator a notice, via regular and certified mail, indicating the date and location and nature of the violation and their required action before the committee and the ruling or other action to be taken in response to such violation.

8. Any person receiving such notice who wishes to contest same shall appeal to MTGSA Code of Conduct Committee within seven calendar days of the mailing of said notice by forwarding a copy of said notice with a written request for appeal, specifically setting forth the basis of such person's contest of the notice of violation, via personal delivery, fax or certified mail, to the Chairperson of the Code of Conduct Committee at the address specified on the MTGSA website – Code of Conduct section.

9. Upon receipt of such appeal the Code of Conduct Committee shall convene within seven days and provide an opportunity for said person and any interested person or persons to appear and be heard with respect to the occurrence of any violation and action taken by the Code of Conduct Committee.

10. Any person while appealing his/her violation of the code of conduct shall be reinstated with full rights and authority until such time that a re-determination and re-disposition of his/her appeal has been made except in cases where any form of violence toward a player, official, coach or spectator is being reviewed.
